As a residential rental property owner, it’s your responsibility to ensure that:

• the unit is vacant before a full-risk lead paint reduction inspection,
• all construction-related debris are removed from the unit,
• the interior of the unit is thoroughly vacuumed with a HEPA vacuum or a high quality vacuum cleaner,
• once the interior is vacuumed, all surfaces are cleaned with standard household cleaning products, making sure that the wash water is frequently changed to avoid cross-contamination,
• the unit is vacuumed one more time after wet cleaning,
• there’s no visible paint chipping, flaking, or peeling on walls and windows, including in bathrooms, kitchen and hallways,
• window wells/sills and other dusty surfaces are wiped with a damp cloth, and
• there’s no defective paint on the exterior, common areas or 75 feet from property such as garages and sheds.
