Maryland laws require visual lead inspection of residential rental properties built before 1978 in order to protect families and prevent lead poisoning in children. Lead poisoning happens over time from exposure to lead. Infants and children younger than 6 years are very vulnerable and lead poisoning can affect their mental and physical development.
